HEY! I'M SCOTT…
After 30 years working with the US Department of Commerce, I was ready for a change and now I’m fortunate to be building a business in an industry I love—Personal Development.
Originally from Scottsdale, I now live in Paris with my wife of 22 years, our 19-year-old son (who’s about to start culinary school), my elderly father-in-law and our two little chihuahuas.
We previously lived in Egypt and today we really enjoy the active lifestyle Paris offers—walking, running, cycling and exploring new corners of the city.
I’ve always loved movies and theatre, and now with the freedom of our business, we can embrace a life of travel, adventure and experiences that I only dreamed of in the past.
Even though I work from home, I’m never alone—I’m part of an incredible global community.
THE PROBLEM THAT LED ME HERE: I spent 30 years with the US Department of Commerce in a career that was diverse, challenging in the best ways and full of incredible opportunities.
I worked with small and medium-sized businesses, helping them export their products, overcome barriers and navigate international regulations.
Later, I joined the foreign service, which took me overseas for several postings where I continued the same work in commercial advocacy and diplomacy.
There were major highlights, like overseeing a signing ceremony with foreign presidents and a lot of satisfaction in seeing companies succeed.
But there were also frustrations: navigating situations where representatives weren’t transparent, where fairness wasn’t on the table and not everyone was working toward the same goal.
Eventually, I knew it was time for a new chapter, one that gave me more freedom, portability and the ability to keep making an impact, just in a different way.
A NEW DIRECTION: After a long career helping other businesses succeed, I knew I was ready for a change.
I was still young enough to carve a new path, so I went back to school, got my MBA and we made the move to Paris, where my wife grew up.
I wanted to find something I enjoyed that also gave me more balance—a way to keep helping people succeed, but with a more personal touch this time.
It felt exciting to branch into something new, to achieve things on my own while also supporting others.
I have to admit, I was a complete novice when it came to social media, but I’ve embraced the learning curve.
The best part is that this new chapter gives us portability for travel and the freedom to truly enjoy the places we visit, with plenty more downtime than I ever had before.
THE SHIFT THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING: Personal growth has always been important to me. I’ve always believed in being open to learning new ways of doing things and becoming the best version of myself.
Aligning with the Personal Development space in this business has really opened my eyes to so many different perspectives on life.
It’s given me a deeper sense of who I am and just as importantly, a better understanding of others.
That awareness makes it easier to connect with people and help them move toward where they want to be.
I’ve realized you never really arrive at 100%, professionally or personally, there’s always more you can do.
The key is recognizing where you’re at, building on that and continuing the journey forward.
